A lifelong Caroline County resident, Sandy grew up on a farm in Tuckahoe Neck, attended Caroline County Schools, married Chuck Hayman & raised their two children also in Caroline County. Her work has focused on the land title industry where her career spanned for thirty- nine years; spending that same amount of time researching her family history and lately local history. Realizing the connection of family and the local area history, she started to write.

In March of 2024, after working on a manuscript for three-and one-half years, she published her first book, 'One Summer Night'. It was a personal accomplishment. Encouraged to write a second book, Sandy wrote, 'One Summer Day' that was published at the end of 2024. Stay tuned for her next book – possibly released in June 2025.
